  • TOEFL

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is an English Proficiency Test conducted by the Educational Testing Services (ETS). Though most of the UK universities prefer candidates who have scored 92-100 in TOEFL, some universities admit candidates with 79-80 scores.

  • PTE

Pearson Test of English is conducted by Pearson PLC Group to assess the English Language use of non-English speakers. You need a higher PTE score to study advanced courses, such as Literature, Law, Psychology, and Medicine. Though the top UK universities prefer candidates with a minimum of 70-79 PTE scores, a 50-70 score range is also acceptable.

Entrance Exams Required to Study in UK

You have to take some admission tests to study in the UK. They are: 

  • GMAT: The candidate has to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) to pursue an MBA or any other business-related course in the UK.
  • GRE: Students who want to study for Master’s degrees in the UK need to appear for the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE). Though most UK universities don’t insist on a GRE scorecard, it is essential for some courses in some other universities. So, it is better to go to the university’s official website and check on it before you proceed with your application.
  • SAT: Though SAT is not mandatory in many UK universities, some universities prefer to accept students with a decent SAT score for certain courses.
