Canada launches New Immigration Application Tracker

Child Sponsorship Immigrant Applicants for Spouses, Common Law and Dependents can now check their Application Status Online.

Canada has launched an online portal where spousal and child sponsorship applicants can track their immigration application online.

The Trackers are available on the government website. At present, it is open to only spouses, common law and dependents applying for child sponsorship. This is available to both applicants and representatives.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizens of Canada (IRCC) has notified in an online form that tracker information is subject to change at any time before IRCC personnel make final decisions. It also states that there may be delays or discrepancies between the actual progress of the sponsorship application and the information displayed on the tracker.

The tracker was announced earlier this week by Immigration Minister Sean Fraser as part of an effort to modernize the Canadian immigration system.

“We understand that clients want easy access to case file status updates,” the government said in a statement. “Therefore, in February 2022, we will also release a new permanent resident application tracker for spouses and dependents to give customers easy access to application information and status online.”

The government also wants to expand online applications to more future immigrants in the summer of 2022. The transition to more online application processes is intended to minimize processing delays associated with paper applications and the pandemic.
